1. Different Product Form
Acrylic resin: Typically thermoplastic or thermosetting resins, they are produced as solids, granules or viscous liquids, requiring solvent dissolution for use.
Acrylic emulsion: These are water-based emulsions. They are white or milky white liquids, environmentally friendly, and solvent-free, making them more suitable for water-based coatings and adhesives.
2. Differences in Process Equipment
Acrylic resin production line:
The main equipment is a reactor with heating and cooling functions (typically using a jacket or coil heating).
A solvent recovery system, explosion-proof motor, and temperature control system are required.
Acrylic emulsion production line:
The main equipment is an emulsion polymerization reactor, equipped with a high-speed disperser and emulsification system.
The process emphasizes emulsification and dispersion, and generally does not require a complex solvent recovery unit.
3. Different Applications
Acrylic resin: Widely used in coatings, adhesives, plastic modification, automotive coatings, composite materials, etc.
Acrylic emulsion: Primarily used in environmentally friendly architectural coatings, paper coatings, textile auxiliaries, and water-based adhesives.
4. Differences in Investment and Environmental Performance
Acrylic resin production line requires a slightly higher investment and has strict requirements for explosion protection and exhaust gas recovery.
Acrylic emulsion production line requires a relatively low investment and has less environmental impact, making it suitable for water-based, environmentally friendly markets.
JCT can both provide acrylic resin production line and acrylic emulsion production line turnkey projects.
If you are targeting the solvent-based resin market (automotive coatings, industrial coatings), JCT recommend establishing an acrylic resin production line.
If you are interested in the environmentally friendly water-based product market (architectural coatings, emulsion adhesives), an acrylic emulsion production line is more suitable.
