Solid Propellant Vertical Kneader

Solid propellants are composed of a mixture of high-viscosity polymer binders (such as HTPB) and a large quantity of solid high-energy particles (such as ammonium perchlorate and aluminum powder). As these materials are highly sensitive energetic substances, traditional horizontal kneaders—which feature shaft seals located beneath the material zone—pose a risk of fire or explosion caused by frictional heat or static electricity.

Solid propellant vertical kneaders effectively resolve this issue; through a "suspended mixing shaft design" and a "bottom-seal-free structure," they elevate safety standards to a new level.

vertical kneader working principle

All drive and moving components—such as the mixing shaft, gearbox, bearings, and seals—are mounted at the top of the vertical kneader mixing vessel (above the material). This completely eliminates the risk of material leaking downward to contaminate bearings, or of deflagration caused by intense frictional heat resulting from material being forced into the shaft seal.
